We fully expect that the Californian legislation, to remove lead from potable water components, will spread throughout the US and Canada within the next two years. At CMC our staff has been in a preparatory mode over the last few years, experimenting with the forgability and machinability of Lead-Free Brass.

We are more than prepared to answer the call; as more industries adopt the policy to remove lead from brass components.

In fact, the automotive Industry has asked its suppliers to remove Substance of Concerns (SOC) from their products. We are already working with customers who are forward thinking in their approach and who are determined to work with quality suppliers that are capable and willing to react in an instant to secure their supply.

We are also aware that in some applications Lead-Free Brass is a viable alternative to stainless steel and we have been working on providing information to customers who want to reduce components costs, meet recyclability quotas and to increase their eco friendliness.

Forged Lead-Free Brass is cheaper to process than stainless steel, eliminates SOC’s and is totally recyclable. Something that Japan has already introduced in Japanese built vehicles.
